Announcements Module renders a list of announcements. Each announcement includes a title and text. Optional features are "read more..." link to a file, tab or another portal; and the ability to set each announcement to automatically expire after a particular date. The instructions below explain how to add announcements to your DotNetNuke Web page design.
Instructions for installing the core DotNetNuke Announcements Module from the DotNetNuke Admin Bar
- Select Announcements from the drop down module list. You will see a blank Announcement module.
- Mouse over the pencil icon.
- Click on Add New Announcement.
- You have now opened the Edit Announcements form.
- Add a title. Make the title meaningful or simply chose the most used word in your content. Titles are used in search engines to advertise your portal site.
- Click on the add date box to automatically include the date with your title.
- Add a description: Add the announcement text. (An annotation to your content)
- Choose a radio button to display your content as an external or internal URL or file link. The link name used in your content displays “Read more“.
- Enter an expiry date.
- Enter a view order number if adding more than one announcement.
- Click on the Syndicate checkbox for syndication.
- Click Update to save.
Click the Syndicate link to write the announcements.rss file. People can add this file to their site, it's like news feeds. You can view or delete this file in the Admin - File Manager screen.
You have now added an announcement module.
Edit Announcement
Click on the pencil (edit) icon of each announcement to edit or view the log. Show Log (click through) is located at the bottom of the screen.
Add as many new annoucements as you want. 'Read more' links to the URL you entered in the announcements setting. Below I have linked to My-ASP.Net's Home Page.
