Log Viewer

The Log Viewer module provides the host account with: A detailed log of errors and events that occur in a portal, details include:

  • Time of error or event
    o Portal number
    o User ID (note, anonymous users are recorded as -1)
    o Tab Name and Tab ID
    o If the exception was a module or page loading exception
    o What the error was (E.g. File Not Found)
    o Physical path to the file which caused the error if the error was a module loading error.

  • Pre built exception reports for:
    o 3rd party developers
    o DotNetNuke Core Team.

The Log Viewer is color coded for easier reading and a color legend is provided in the lower right hand corner of the page.

Using the Log Viewer

  1. Mouse over the Admin tab located in the main menu.
  2. Click on the Log Viewer tab to open the form.
  3. Select from the drop down list: All – all error/event exceptions, Portal Name – errors and events specific to that portal.

Select a Record

Click in the checkbox located in the left column of any entry to select the record. The row will open to provide more data. The box will show a check mark indicator.
To deselect the record simply click on the check mark, the row will close and the select box will be blank.

Delete Selected Exceptions

Click in the checkbox located in the left column of any entry to select the record. The checkbox will show a check mark indicator.
Click the Delete Selected Exceptions link at the bottom left side of the list.

All selected exceptions have been deleted.

Clear Log

Delete the entire log.

Send Exemptions

1. Click on Send Exemptions to open the 3rd party exemption form.
2. Enter the 3rd party support email address.
3. Provide a message to the developer. (Optional)
4. Click on Send Exemptions to Core Team to send errors regarding DNN errors with core modules.
5. Clear Log.
6. Click on the Clear Log button to delete all log records.

You have now completed Log Viewer.
