File Manager

The Host File Manager permits the host to upload, download, delete and synchronize files stored in the File Manager. The Host can permit Administrators to upload files, the extension upload permissions are located in Host Site Settings.

Host files that can be managed include:

  • Content Files: Images, Documents, etc.
  • Skin Package: A Zip file containing a portal skin design.
  • Container Package: Zip files containing a module container design.
  • Custom Module: Zip files containing a custom module. (Host Only)

Note: Skins and containers must be uploaded separately. If you have downloaded a skin package containing both, then unzip the package before uploading them.

All content files uploaded by this file manager are located in your Portals/_default/folder. All skin files uploaded by this file manager are located in your Portals/_default/Skins folder. Container files are located in your Portals/_default/Containers folder. Custom modules are located in your DesktopModules/NameofModule/ folder.

The Admin File Manager permits the administrator to upload, download, delete and synchronize files stored in the File Manager located under the Admin tab. Permissions are granted in the Host Settings.

Admin Files that can be managed include:

  • Content Files: Images, Documents, etc.
  • Skin Package: Zip files containing a portal skin design.
  • Container Package: Zip files containing a module container design.

Upload new files

  1. Mouse over the Host Tab located on your main menu bar.
  2. Click on File Manager to open the File Manager List form.
  3. Mouse over the pencil icon located in the left column of the File Manager title bar.
  4. Click on Upload New File(s) to open the file upload form. You will now see the the File upload screen.
  5. Click on the radio button to define your type of upload.
  6. Enter the local path to your file or use the Browse button to search your local directory to find the file.
  7. Click on the Add Button, your file will now appear in your upload file list.
  8. Repeat steps 1 to 3 to upload multiple files.
  9. Click on Upload File(s).

If you have a lot of files you wish to upload at once, zip them up and upload the zip, make sure the 'Decompress ZIP Files?' checkbox is checked and the files will be uncompressed. Alternatively if you put the files in via another method such as FTP, then on the file manager, you can click the 'Synchronize Database And File System'button to make sure the files are usable in the portal.

You have now uploaded your files. 

  • Click on the Decompress Zip File indicator checkbox to automatically decompress zipped content files when uploading.

After installing skins, containers, or custom modules you will get an on screen message telling you the files that have been successfully installed or which ones failed.

Delete File(s)

  1. Click on the red delete button located in the left column of the file listing
  2. Confirm your action when requested by the system file manager dialogue box.

You have deleted the file.

Download File

  1. Click on the Download button located in the far right column of the file listing to open your local file system manager.
  2. Click on save.
  3. Choose your download directory.
  4. Click on save to transfer the file to your local disk.
  5. Click on close to end your local file session.

You have now downloaded your file.
